DocBook

A little over a year ago, I completed a report in DocBook XML, and now I am looking to import the content into a Wiki. I purposely wrote the report in XML with the thought that, eventually, I would be converting it to some web-based format. However, I need to refresh on the tools that I used.

  • processor used to generate PDF output
• MoinDocBook describes tools for converting between DocBook and MoinMoin Wiki format
• I will need some way to inline Xincludes, there is a script maybe sablotron to do that, one of the XML editors did that, too.
  • ah yes xsltproc part of the fop toolchain
• I will need to change individual chapters to “article” document type for smooth conversion to wiki text.

I think I have a semi plan of attack:

1. xsltproc to inline all Xincludes
2. split resulting document into chapters
3. convert chapter format to article
4. convert articles to wiki text
5. convert wiki text to specific format for dokuwiki

Next, maybe see if there is a way that I can “populate” a dokuwiki tree by dropping files into the directory, may need a main index page.
