FilesWiki

I’m looking for a Wiki that will be easy to sync with laptop and desktop computers with something like rsync or unison. It would be nice to be able to have a USB version via something like XAMPP for easy demo. Also interested in support for PHP Input Filter and maybe advanced use of mod_security.

• ability to sync to laptop and run off a USB stick
• good support for renaming pages
• easy to install and maintain on DreamHost

In the end, I decided to stick with DokuWiki. It’s very easy to keep it backed up with BackupPC through SSH to my Dreamhost shell account. And DokuWiki behaves very well when you run it from a different location, for example on a web server running from a USB stick. I find that the ability to edit subsections separately from the entire page makes it easy to make quick changes.

• DidiWiki - standalone C program, a bit primitive

• KWikiKWiki - Perl with special needs, could be difficult on DreamHost
• MoinMoin - Python, probably a pain on DreamHost
• MoniWiki - geared to Asian languages
• Perspective - another .NET one
• PhpWiki - PHP, seems primitive, site defaced
• ProWiki - Perl based, looks like a pain for DreamHost
• PukiWiki - Asian language oriented
• TiddlyWiki - too light weight, everything in one file
• TWiki - Perl based, had trouble getting this working on DreamHost
• UseMod - looks quite dated
• Wikepage - 34kb thin, bliki style, interesting
